Savannah Weekend Must-Sees
Bonaventure Cemetery: On the outskirts of Savannah lies a beautiful and HUGE cemetery called Bonaventure. Though I don’t typically go on vacation to visit a cemetery, this is one that you do not want to miss! Very picturesque and restful (no pun intended!). It’s known for its moss-draped trees, massive sculptures, and stunning view of the Wilmington River. If you want a relaxing day on your vacation and to make the most out of your stay, this is the perfect spot for you!
Historic District: Between the cobblestone roads and the 18th century architecture, this site is a must-see! There are many well-known landmarks located here, such as Forsyth Park, City Market, the Williams Mercer House, and River Street.
Maple Street Biscuit Company: Want a good ol’ southern breakfast while you are visiting Savannah? Their breakfast delights are to DIE FOR!!! Huge biscuit sandwiches, reasonably priced, and they even add some fun into the mix. They ask you a creative question before you can order. For example, because my husband and I visited over Valentines Day, their question was “Who is your celebrity crush?” When your food was ready, they would call out your answer, not your name. Very creative! I am not sure what the other monthly questions are, but this is a perfect place for a delicious southern breakfast. Just a little tip – the apple butter chicken biscuit is AMAZING (The last picture)! Make your weekend away in Savannah memorable with a yummy Saturday morning breakfast!
Downtown Savannah: Downtown Savannah is filled to the brim with quaint and charming boutiques and restaurants. I could walk around there forever! It’s not huge, probably will take a few hours to walk through if you take your time and visit the inside attractions. If you have a sunny afternoon awaiting you on your vacation, downtown Savannah is a perfect place for shopping, food, and maybe even a romantic or family photoshoot.
The Perfect Weekend Away and Where You Can Stay
Savannah is one of the most restful and charming places that I have ever visited. Just the perfect romantic weekend getaway. My husband and I stayed at an AirBnB in Beaufort (SC) and traveled over each day. We even were able to visit the Hilton Head area over the same weekend. Beaufort is a great in-between spot for when you would like to visit both places. This was the AirBnB that we stayed in and I highly recommend it! Clean, welcoming, and a great in-between spot for many attractions. Click here to look at or book your stay at this beautiful Beaufort home for your weekend away near Savannah!
All in all, These are just a few highlights, but Savannah has countless activities to enjoy. Soak in all the southern goodness and time with your loved ones! And most of all, enjoy the sunshine!
Much love, Mallory
